Removing Rust Stains from a Yacht
Conservit customer Paul, owner of Tickety Boo, a 32ft Bavaria berthed in Portishead had a common problem. Over the years, as waves and rain had washed over the stern, the hinges of the cockpit lockers had leeched metal into the water, which had created unsightly rust stains down the transom.

Paul had spent a small fortune trying numerous general and specialist cleaning products, but the stains stubbornly remained making his yacht look rather shabby despite all his hard work.
A good friend of Conservit distributor Martin Oscroft-Crompton, Paul agreed to give the transom – and those stubborn rust stains – the Conservit treatment.
Martin and Paul first washed the whole area with stage one of the Conservit Hull Restoration Kit – a powerful detergent to lift surface dirt.
Next they applied stage two – our restorer product to the entire area – using a soft cotton cloth to work the restorer into the surface to buff away stains and scratches – paying particular attention to the rust stains. To Paul’s amazement, after only a few minutes work, the rust stains were gone.
Finally Martin and Paul applied stage three – our polish which brings back the shine to the surface and gives a degree of protection from future staining and scratching.
The results – one sparklingly clean transom, free of rust stains.

Martin caught up with Paul the following week and asked how Tickety Boo was looking. Paul’s reply:
“What was noticeable when I approached the boat last weekend (last time I was down there) was how much cleaner and whiter it looked. That’s just walking along the pontoon thinking about other things, rather than standing back and studying it.”
Paul’s now ready to work on the rest of the boat so that it can all look as great as his newly refurbished transom.
